An ordinary life, a hero of the Land of the Young. My solo show 2026

  • OISÍN – An Ordinary Man, A Hero of the Land of the Young ⭐ A brand-new solo clown odyssey written and performed by Gerry Carroll (age 73 and not slowing down).

Long ago, the warrior-poet Oisín rode off with the golden-haired Niamh to Tír na nÓg – the Land of the Young, where nobody ever grows old and time stands still. Three hundred years later he came home… and turned into a wrinkly old man in about thirty seconds flat.

Gerry has a soul-crushing office job, discovers stand-up comedy, and decides the only way to stay young is to never stop playing the fool.

What happens when we leave the Land of the Young? How come some of us wrinkle overnight and others refuse to grow up at all?

In this joyous, ridiculous, and unexpectedly moving hour, 73-year-old Gerry weaves the ancient Irish legend of Oisín with his own wild life story – through song, dance, clowning, stand-up, a few too many shot glasses, and buckets of laughter.

It’s funny. It’s touching. It might just make you feel 21 again.

★★★★★ “Utterly delightful – Gerry is a force of nature” – Audience reviews ★★★★ “A masterclass in how to age disgracefully and brilliantly” – FringeReview

Come see one of the oldest (and boldest) performers at the Fringe prove that you’re only as young as the jokes you tell. Bring your granny, bring your inner child bring a shot glass if you dare.

OISÍN – because growing old is inevitable, but growing up is optional. Book now – seats are going faster than Oisín’s youth!
